Aiste Miseviciute, Founder of Luxeat

The SV Collection of Questions is a series of interviews spotlighting truly inspiring women, guests who’ve had an impact on how I view the world and what it means to live a life in balance. Take this as an opportunity to get inspired and maybe even refresh your wellness practices. Take what you need and leave what you don’t. This is a sharing of personal stories, from morning and nightly rituals, to how they move their bodies, favorite lifestyle brands, to their own process of setting aside their fears and what ‘well-living is well-being’ means to them.

The intention is to inspire each of us to greater heights, so we can shine our light a little brighter and live a healthy, happy, and balanced life.

Aiste Miseviciute, ex-supermodel and world-food ambassador, is the mastermind behind Luxeat: a food-focused platform that has grown into an international culinary hub.
Originally from Lithuania, Aiste lives between Paris and London where she focuses on food writing as well as organizing exceptional culinary events. She recently launched “Luxeat Insider”, a beautifully edited newsletter where she shares her own dining experiences at some of the world’s best restaurants, as well as recommendations to eat at some of her top-rated restaurants anywhere she goes. You won’t want to miss this one!

NameAiste Miseviciute

Location: London and Paris

Where did your love for food and travel start?
I was born in Soviet Union, when we didn’t have much great variety of dishes and ingredient. I still remember how we would queue with my mother for exotic fruits such as oranges and bananas. I also remember amazing strawberries from my grandmother’s  garden, which we would eat directly from the bushes. I still haven’t found as good ones! I guess my  understanding of food opened up and changed when at 18 years old I moved to Paris, where there was the whole new world of restaurants and indulgence.

In these unprecedented times, how are you holding up?
As a hidden introvert and someone who used to travel a lot, maybe too much, I’ve actually been enjoying the slowing down. I think this was necessary for me.

What does “Well-Living Is Well-Being” mean to you?
Taking your time to do things really well and right. Focusing on quality rather than quantity.

WELL-BEING
What do your mornings look like? Is routine important to you or do you like things to be more open and freer?
I have a little boy, so routine often depends on his schedule like bringing him to school or going to the park after. Also he is the reason why routine and organising my time is very important to me.

Have you introduced any new routines or rituals since staying home?
Yes! I live few minutes away from the Hyde Park, so I ride a bike there almost every day.

WELL-BEAUTY
What are the top 3 skincare products that you couldn’t live without?
1.     Lotion P50 from Biologique Recherche
2.     Kiehl’s Creme de Corps
3.     Sisley Black Rose Oil

Do you have any beauty/health tricks that you’ve found to be especially useful?
No skincare will replace good night rest or drinking a lot of water!

WELL-BODY
Do you follow any specific eating philosophy?
I eat everything with moderation. Also always leave the table a bit hungry.

Are there any particular foods that you find to be helpful with general wellness?
All kind of greens, vegetables and pulses.

Describe your typical meal for each of these…
Breakfast: Grilled sourdough bread with butter and orange marmalade, first flush Darjeeling tea.
Lunch:  Anything from sushi to burger or steak.
            Dinner: Usually fish with vegetables.
Snacks: I don’t snack, but can make an exception for Iberian ham.

WELL MIND & BODY
What does your home workout routine look like?
Core exercises with my Pilates ring and resistance band. Also skipping rope.

What other practices do you have that support you feeling your best?
Walking a lot, running and biking with my son.

WELL-LIVING
What are you up to whilst practicing social distancing? What does your stay-at-home life look like?
Working on my newsletter, working out and going to the park, talking to friends, cooking, ingredients shopping, decorating my flat and arranging drawers!

Which self-care practices help you stay light and grounded when life gets stressful?
Definitely sports.

Aiste, travel is such a big part of your career. While on the road, what do you do to keep yourself feeling your best?
Listening to music!
