KARLIE KLOSS, the classically trained ballerina answers some questions about how she maintains her physique, what motivates her to stay in shape (aside from, of course, her job) and which fitness goal she has yet to reach.
What motivates you to stay fit? Being strong both physically and mentally. I exercise to challenge my body to reach new goals. Movement feeds my mind and gives me energy throughout the day.
How do you start your day on a good note? A cup of coffee from a little place around the corner from my house and some greek yogurt with a little agave and fresh fruit.
Your afternoon snack… Something with chocolate. I absolutely love dark chocolate and cacao!
How often do you exercise? I like to work out at least five days a week with a good balance of cardio and weight training.
What’s one exercise you can’t live without? Ballet! It’s how I grew up, exercising and moving. Though I’m a Pilates and Soul Cycle regular, dance and ballet will always be a huge part of my exercise routine and life.
Do you favor protein shakes? Juice cleanses? Or just maintaining a healthy diet? Healthy diet! It’s so important to nurture your body, especially when you’re exercising and moving constantly. Your body needs fuel to stay healthy and strong. Nothing can substitute for a balanced diet.
Beauty-wise, are there any products you keep on hand — or on your body — when you’re being active outdoors? I always wash my face before and after a workout. It helps me avoid breakouts and keeps my skin fresh and clean.
If you could switch closets with one person in the world, who would it be? Brigitte Bardot circa 1960’s. I absolutely loved her quintessential french sexpot style. So simple but still very chic!
What are your words to live by?
Whatever you are, be the best you can be at it.
