Daily Little Rituals: Dry Brushing

Your skin plays an essential role in eliminating bodily impurities and you can give it a helping hand with this through dry skin brushing.

Dry brushing the skin toward the heart further aids the detoxification process by stimulating your lymphatic system which transports waste from your tissues to your blood for elimination. 

Make sure you choose a brush made from natural vegetable fibres, rather than synthetic ones, which may contain toxins. Something like jute fibres are perfect. Pictured above is my favorite body brush, by Karmameju. I use their Recharge Ionic Body Brush which has ultra fine bristles of horsehair and copper wire, what's so great about it is that it forms negative ions through friction in the body bringing electromagnetic energies into harmony while exfoliating the skin and oxygenating the cells.

It’s best to brush dry skin, before showering as a shower cleanses the body of the impurities and dead skin cells that the brushing removes. Make sure your brush is totally dry before you start, so clean it in advance. The process is uplifting and invigorating, so it’s preferable to do it in the morning, rather than in the evening, when you need to wind down.
